You become a “Senior” in Surf Life Saving the year that you reach your 17th Birthday.
For competition you compete as a Senior at Regional events at this age but for National Events you can compete the year you are 16 with no upper age limit at any level of event.
The Senior members of the Club don’t currently have a separate training session but join in with everyone else. There is no pressure to compete but if you want to there are competitions at Regional, National and International level.
Over the last two years our Seniors have been very successful at Regional and National Championships finishing in 2nd place at the Cornish Champs in Bude in 2011 and 5th place at the SLSGB Championships at Polzeath in 2011. See reports for these events on Senior News page.
Training is up to you, there are many members of the Club who are always happy to provide advice and coaching on all the different aspects that we call “Surf Life Saving” i.e Board Paddling, Ski Paddling, Swimming, Running, Beach Flags etc.
As a Club member you can also undertake any courses that are taking place and obtain qualifications such as SLSGB Beach Lifeguard, SLSGB Life Saver Support Award, First Aid and Resuscitation etc. These are all free to members of the Club.
All training sessions at the Clubhouse are free and there is Club equipment that you can borrow. Our weekly swimming session at Carn Brea Leisure Centre on Tuesday evenings will cost you £2.50 per week. See Club Timetable for a list of all our year round activities.
