The youth section covers the age range 13-19. Many of the members come up through our popular nipper section although new and novice members are always welcome.
The section benefits from supervision by many experienced qualified coaches all of whom are CRB checked. Youth members are taken through lifesaving skills, first aid, swim, board and ski competencies.
Indoor swimming pool based sessions is held all year round on Tuesday evenings from 8.30-9.30pm at Carn Brea Leisure Centre. There is a small session fee of £2. During the winter we train hard at rescue techniques, and many members compete at the Cornish and GB Stillwater and ocean championships throughout the year.
On Sunday mornings throughout the period October-March youth members have an opportunity to attend a ski paddling session commencing at 9.00am for beginners and 10.00am for more experienced paddlers. A small fee of £1.00 per session is charged. These sessions take place at either Carbis Bay or Hayle according to the tide times and the club takes a trailer of equipment to the venue.
Training on the beach and in the ocean takes place throughout the year on Sunday afternoons between 2.00pm and 4.00pm.
Throughout the summer season youth members can also attend up to three evenings per week at the beach. Mondays are board training, Wednesdays are club nights and Fridays are ski training. Sessions are between 6.00pm and 8.00pm and designed to enable members to keep fit and develop their all round lifesaving skills with fully qualified coaches and safety cover.
